A gastropod mollusc of the family Pleurotomidæ, having shells usually spindle-shaped, with a notch in the outer lip. So pleuˈrotomine (-maɪn) a., belonging or related to the genus Pleurotoma; pleuˈrotomoid, a. resembling Pleurotoma, or belonging to the Pleurotomidæ; n. a mollusc of this family.
